IV – Hip-Hop/Lyrical Rap – Topeka, Ks

IV, whom assumes his moniker, being the fourth generation with his identical family name, is an abstract Hip-Hop artist out of Topeka. Sighting influences like the time-less ‘The Beatles’, and pop-punk connoisseur band ‘Boys Like Girls’,  IV projects a uncommon style. Choosing to use unconventionally produced tracks adds to a certain mystique to the demeanor of IV. Matching the style of his backing music, the eloquent voice that flows on top of the aforementioned beats is soft and unexpected.

IV began chasing his music dreams after joining choir in high school. After graduation he began experimenting with his music to come into his distinct style and taste. IV’s expressions delve into the mind of the nerdy outcast, and not being at the top, virtually an oxymoron to a large percentage of music similar to his.

My favorite track IV has released to this day was another unexpected track to come from a Hip-Hop artist. Easily the darkest song I have heard from this young man is “Heartless”, with an identical chorus from the well-known version(s), but it is not a sample of the song, IV recorded his own vocal version. The songs wreaks of pain and suffering, about many everyday topics including, financial issues, troubles with loved ones and the struggles of being in college.
